Overview
Home Delivery Driver role delivering groceries by 3.5 tonne van, ensuring on-time delivery in good condition, and providing excellent customer service. When not delivering, you will assist in-store as needed. You will learn about Sainsbury's products, services and promotions to help provide recommendations.
Responsibilities
* Drive a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries to customers’ doorsteps, on-time and in a great condition.
* Complete checks to ensure the van is organized, clean and roadworthy, and that delivery cases are secure before getting on the road to drive safely in a variety of locations and conditions.
* Serve customers brilliantly, support with questions and substitutions, and keep them aware of any delays.
* Build knowledge about products, services and promotions to help provide recommendations.
* When not delivering, assist across the store as needed.
* Be friendly and welcoming with a genuine enthusiasm for helping customers and delivering the best doorstep experience.
* Proficient in driving a large vehicle in different locations, from busy residential streets to narrow country lanes, delivering to a variety of residential properties.
* Enjoy a fast-paced, physical and high-energy environment, use initiative to solve problems—often working independently but also thriving as part of a team.
* Be flexible and productive across the store when needed; you will be fully trained in a variety of skills to learn, develop and try new things.
* Be comfortable learning to use new digital tools and technology to perform your job well, and able to move shopping containers up to 15 kg.
Eligibility
* You must be over 18 and hold a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 penalty points.
* You will complete an online driving risk assessment as part of your interview and, if successful, there will be a driving assessment when you join us.
* You must have Right to Work eligibility in the UK.
