GSL Education are currently seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Chesterfield, where nurturing relationships and positive behaviour management are at the core of every success story. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who face challenges that impact their emotional well-being, behaviour, and ability to engage with mainstream education. You will play a vital role in assisting them both academically and emotionally, often through one-to-one support or small group work. Your ability to remain calm under pressure and apply de-escalation techniques will be key to helping students thrive. Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs. Assist teachers in implementing personalised learning strategies. Apply Team-Teach strategies to safely and effectively manage behaviour. Offer emotional reassurance and maintain strong, consistent boundaries. Monitor student progress and contribute to pupil support plans. Work collaboratively with SENCOs, pastoral teams, and parents/carers. Job Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs. Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to behaviour support. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures. Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply via GSL).
