Job Introduction
We are looking for a skilled and proactive FM Maintenance Supervisor (Hard Services) to join our team at HMP Peterborough. In this hands‑on role, you will supervise and support a multi‑skilled maintenance team, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of both planned and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and building fabric disciplines. You will also coordinate contractors, maintain compliance with statutory, health and safety, and security requirements, and ensure the smooth operation of the facility in a secure environment.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate Maintenance Operatives to deliver Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks safely and efficiently.
* Provide hands‑on technical support, including fault diagnosis, repairs, and installation works across relevant disciplines.
* Manage and monitor specialist contractors, ensuring compliance with permit‑to‑work systems, risk assessments, and site safety procedures.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and monitor completion of tasks using PDA/CAFMS systems.
* Support the Technical Services Manager with workforce planning, compliance monitoring, and service performance reporting.
* Promote and enforce health, safety, and security standards, ensuring all maintenance activities comply with legislation, site policies, and operational protocols.
Qualifications
* Multi‑skilled technical expertise across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and building fabric disciplines.
* Qualifications: High Voltage Authorised Person, Pressurised Systems Authorised Person, IOSH.
* Proven supervisory experience managing maintenance operatives or coordinating maintenance works.
* Strong understanding of statutory compliance, health and safety, and secure environment protocols.
* Hands‑on problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills with the ability to provide technical guidance.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and team management abilities.
* Professional, proactive, and organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks under competing operational demands.
* Successful candidates will be required to undertake Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) Level 2 & Enhanced DBS.
Package Description
* £42,000 per annum
* Monday – Friday, full‑time (37.5 hours)
