The role

Specialist Podiatrist – Kendal

The closing date is 03 June 2026

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust (UHMBT) wants to provide sustainable high‑quality medical services that fit with the Better Care Together integrated model of care. We aim to deliver responsive specialist expertise within both acute hospital and community settings, helping to keep people well and manage their long‑term conditions closer to home.

As part of the multi‑disciplinary team you will help improve our pathways of care for patients at a time of exciting service review and development. UHMBT actively supports you to develop your knowledge and skills through our Annual Development Review programme and provides support for external courses.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will deliver a high‑quality, accessible, and timely evidence‑based podiatry service for patients. You will work across the Morecambe Bay area, providing care to an increased/high‑risk caseload. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and confidently are essential. Newly qualified podiatrists may be considered in a developmental role (annex 21).

Our primary focus is quality, patient‑centred care that is evidence‑based and sustainable. We aim to give you the opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive, dynamic, and varied environment. A strong commitment to staff development and service improvement is central to the role, with regular clinical supervision and in‑service training.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal. Additionally, we have community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. Our hospitals provide Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, consultant‑led services, and a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery.
