Job Summary
The PCN is seeking a podiatrist to work alongside the Diabetic HUB model. The podiatrist will collaborate with nurses, GPs and other specialists to provide specialised care for diabetic patients and may also receive referrals from the musculoskeletal department. The PCN operates from its own building in Norton Place, with all member practices within 3 miles.
Main Duties
 * Assess, diagnose, treat and evaluate abnormalities and diseases related to the foot and lower limb in people of all ages
 * Work with high‑risk patient groups such as the elderly and those at increased risk of amputation
 * Give advice and make referrals to other healthcare and social services professionals as appropriate
 * Use therapeutic and surgical techniques to treat foot and lower leg issues (e.g. carrying out nail and soft tissue surgery using local anaesthetic)
 * Prescribe, produce and fit orthotics and other aids and appliances
 * Deliver foot health education
 * Understand the mechanics of the body in order to preserve, restore and develop movement
 * Work with people in sports or dance/performance to address related injuries and stress to legs and feet
 * Use a range of equipment including surgical instruments, dressings, treatment tables, orthotic (inner sole) materials, lasers, grinding and shaping equipment, X‑ray and video gait‑analysis equipment
 * Undertake administrative tasks such as ensuring stock levels are maintained and equipment is kept in good working order

Southend East PCN is working towards being an Integrated Neighbourhood Team, collaborating with a diverse group of professionals and organisations under NHS England’s framework. The PCN has its own building situated in Shoebury, supported by member practices.
Job Description / Responsibilities
 * Conduct thorough examinations of patients’ feet and ankles to diagnose conditions
 * Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs
 * Educate patients on foot health, preventative measures, and post‑treatment care
 * Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations
 * Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
 * Stay updated with advancements in podiatric medicine and technology
Qualifications
 * BSc or pre‑reg MSc in Podiatry under a training programme
 * Approved by the College of Podiatry and registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC)
 * Valid UK professional registration
 * Advanced level of practice required
