Kennedys is looking for a IT Database Administrator to join our IT team.

IT Database Administrators are responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and security of our critical databases and applications. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, maintaining a thorough understanding of the software architecture, and influencing database design to support business continuity and disaster recovery strategies. This includes also managing supplier relationships and providing third-line support to colleagues and the wider business.

Team

Kennedys IT team is responsible for delivery of a responsive, effective and timely IT support service to the firm's employees and clients. They devise and implement operational processes and procedures in order to provide reliable and available IT systems to the firm.

Key responsibilities

1. Work as part of a team to provide adequate coverage for all critical systems across the business.
2. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the functionality provided by supported applications and their use within the organization.
3. Understand software architecture for selected applications to influence database architecture and design for efficiency and reliability.
4. Provide database design specifications and develop/implement solutions as required.
5. Design, develop, and support bespoke database-level solutions, including interfaces, data extracts and integrations with other applications.
6. Extract, transform and maintain data to support data analytics and reporting needs
7. Work with internal and external teams to advise and assist in performance tuning for both internally and externally facing systems, ensuring optimal performance and user experience

Required experience

8. Proven experience managing technical and support teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with an emphasis on business-critical systems.
9. Microsoft SQL Server On-Premises, Azure SQL Virtual Machine, Azure Managed Instance and Azure SQL Database.
10. Experience of managing databases, focusing on security, performance, scaling and cost optimization.
11. Implementing and maintaining backup, database integrity checks and index maintenance jobs.
12. Configuring custom integrations mainly using Transactional SQL, function and Stored procedure.
13. Familiar with Blocking, Caching and Wait Statistics methodologies when troubleshooting performance.
14. Using Extended Events and Query Store.
15. Analysis and assessing datasets used by Power BI reports.
16. Ingesting data into Microsoft Fabric using Azure Data Factory.
