Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust – Consultant Psychiatrist, General Adult Psychiatry – Lancaster

The role is a full‑time (1.0 wte) Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist working between the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) at Victoria House, Morecambe and the inpatient ward at The Orchard, Lancaster. The postholder will cooperate with two other consultants. Participation in the Consultant On Call rota is expected, with additional remuneration payable.
Remuneration: The post will attract a Recruitment & Retention Premia of £40,000 (subject to tax and National Insurance), payable on commencement. Base salary will be set in the New Consultant Contract in accordance with experience. Additional pay is available for on‑call duties.
Key responsibilities: In addition to standard consultant duties in adult psychiatry, the post holds a 0.6 wte allocation to the CMHT and 0.4 wte to inpatient care. The holder will provide clinical expertise, lead on‑call responsibilities, and support team development. Further detailed responsibilities are outlined in the attached Job Description.
* Provide psychiatric assessment and treatment within the Community Mental Health Team (approximately 0.6 of a full‑time equivalent).
* Deliver inpatient psychiatric care at The Orchard, Lancaster (approximately 0.4 of a full‑time equivalent).
* Participate in the Consultant On Call rota.
* Contribute to clinical supervision and potentially to digital leadership or educational roles, as preferred.
Qualifications:
* MBBS or equivalent.
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and licence to practise.
* Either on the GMC Specialist Register or eligible for entry within 6 months of interview date.
* Section 12 approved, or eligible within 3 months of commencement.
* Approved Clinician Status, or eligible within 3 months of commencement.
Experience: Knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the role.
