Job Title: Early Years SEN Support Practitioner
Location: Gateshead
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (Monday to Friday)
Contract: Temporary, term-time only

Do you have the patience and empathy to support children with a range of needs, including autism, severe learning difficulties, and communication and sensory differences? If you’re passionate about helping children feel safe, understood, and ready to learn, this could be the ideal role for you.
We are working with a welcoming and well‑resourced SEN school in Gateshead that is looking to appoint an Early Years SEN Support Practitioner within their EYFS provision.
The role
* Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
* Support children with ASC, SLD, and communication/sensory needs
* Use strategies such as PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables
* Create a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment
* Support personal care and daily routines where required
* Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff
What we’re looking for
* Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within EYFS
* A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach
* Strong understanding of behaviour as communication
* Confidence supporting children with complex needs
* A Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
* A team player with a proactive attitude
