Pay: £26,000 per annum
Location: Hull & East Riding Branch area, based from our Animal Care Centre, Clough Road, Hull


Overall purpose of the role

The Fundraising Officer will lead and support the development of local fundraising activity for the Branch. With a focus on income generation, supporter engagement and community partnerships, the role aims to grow sustainable income through events, campaigns, donor development, business support and local fundraising initiatives. Through strong relationship building and effective storytelling, the Fundraising Officer will help raise the profile of the Branch, strengthen public support and contribute to the charity’s long-term financial sustainability.


Your tasks


Community and Supporter Fundraising

* Plan and deliver a programme of local fundraising, community activities and supporter‑led initiatives that generate income and strengthen public engagement.
* Provide excellent stewardship to fundraisers and donors (individuals and groups) by offering guidance, resources and timely follow‑up to maximise participation and income.
* Identify new opportunities for community fundraising, including challenge events, seasonal appeals, third‑party events and local awareness campaigns.


Corporate, Trust and Individual Giving

* Develop and manage relationships with local businesses, charitable trusts, major donors and individual supporters to secure income and in‑kind support.
* Research, prepare and submit funding applications, proposals and sponsorship requests tailored to donor priorities and Branch needs.
* Support and grow regular giving, legacy and in‑memory fundraising by promoting opportunities sensitively and ensuring appropriate donor stewardship.
* Monitor funding pipelines, renewal dates and donor communications to maximise retention, income growth and long‑term partnership value.


Digital and Campaign Communications

* Create engaging fundraising content for social media, email, website updates and campaign materials that reflects the Branch’s voice and priorities.
* Support the planning and delivery of digital appeals and fundraising campaigns that increase awareness, inspire action and drive online donations.
* Work with colleagues to gather stories, images and impact information that demonstrate the value of supporter contributions.


Collaboration and Volunteer Support

* Work closely with colleagues across the Branch to plan and deliver integrated fundraising activity that supports wider organisational goals.
* Support the recruitment and coordination of volunteers involved in fundraising, campaigns and community engagement activity.
* Build productive relationships with local partners, groups and networks to increase the Branch’s visibility and create collaborative fundraising opportunities.


Reporting, Compliance and Good Practice

* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of fundraising activity, donor information, income and expenditure using approved systems and processes.
* Monitor progress against fundraising targets and provide regular updates, reports and insight to support planning and decision‑making.
* Ensure fundraising activity is delivered in line with legal, regulatory and ethical requirements, including data protection and fundraising best practice.


Person Profile


Essential Experience

* Experience in fundraising, events, community engagement, supporter development, sales, marketing or a similar relationship‑based role.
* Demonstrable ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people, including supporters, partners, donors and members of the public.
* Experience planning, organising and delivering activity or projects, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to promote ideas, make requests and work towards agreed targets.


Desirable Experience

* Experience working in the charity, not‑for‑profit or animal welfare sector, with an understanding of community‑based fundraising environments.
* Knowledge of grant fundraising, trust applications, corporate partnerships or donor stewardship.
* Experience working with volunteers or supporting volunteer‑led activity.
* Familiarity with supporter databases, CRM systems or digital fundraising tools used to record and monitor engagement and income.


Skills and Abilities

* Warm, approachable and professional manner, with the ability to build trust and maintain positive working relationships.
* Well organised and proactive, with the ability to take initiative, manage workload effectively and follow tasks through to completion.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with good judgement and the confidence to represent the charity credibly and sensitively.
* Flexible and resilient, with a positive attitude and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and opportunities.


Other Requirements

* Having a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle as regular travel will be required.
* Commitment to the charity’s values and animal welfare mission.
* Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends across the charities geographical footprint.
