Integrated Midwife - Band 5/6

We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated, and committed midwives to join our integrated midwifery team workforce. These posts offer the opportunity to be part of Torbay's nationally renowned and well-established integrated team midwifery model.
We support women to have a safe and individually focused birth. We work closely with the Devon LMS and neighboring Maternity Units to ensure high-quality care for women in Devon.
Fully integrated teams in the Torbay Maternity Service provide midwives the chance to maintain all their skills.
Band 5 midwives must have completed at least 6 months of a preceptee programme.
Main duties of the job
* Assess the full range of care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate care programmes throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods for women and their babies.
* Work autonomously within guidelines and professional practice standards.
* Act as a mentor or practice supervisor for less experienced midwives, students, and other members of the multi-professional team.
* Work within NMC codes of practice and professional guidelines.
* Serve as Lead Professional for low-risk women.
* Provide antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care in various settings, including home and hospital.
* Collaborate with professional colleagues to provide midwifery care to women with complex needs.
* Contribute feedback to ensure the health and social care setting responds to the individual needs of women, especially those who are disadvantaged, and advocate for these women where appropriate.
* Support women's rights to make informed choices about their care.
* Promote equality, diversity, and rights.
* Participate in annual appraisals, identify training needs, and engage in continuous personal development.

Our fully integrated midwifery teams meet the Better Birth recommendations for providing a Continuity of Carer model for women.
We support the choice agenda; at least 6% of women we care for choose to birth their baby out of hospital. We work closely with the Devon LMS and neighboring Maternity Units to ensure high-quality care for women in Devon.

Person Specification
Qualifications and training
* Registered Midwife
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Completed a preceptor programme
Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of child protection, domestic violence, substance misuse, and working with women with special needs
* Ability to cope in stressful environments with emotional women, their families/supporters, and staff
* Community experience
* Experience of home births
* Parent Education training
Specific skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work autonomously
* Organizational and prioritization skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
