You will be a senior member of the Product team but will ultimately be responsible for:
Responsibilities
- Defining the roadmap for how the market requirements will be delivered by the solutions within the product unit and how we move to a common SaaS architecture, balancing short and long-term requirements of products and the overall ongoing 'health' of the product unit.
- Facilitating the solution design / architecture of the Product unit, balancing functional and non‑functional requirements
- Managing product life cycles from conceptualisation through to retirement
- Owning the cost of delivering and operating the unit to ensure the unit is commercially viable, and feeding this into the commercial proposition and price lists
- Defining and managing the KPIs, SLAs and other key metrics for the unit
- Driving collaboration across the Product unit and broader ICT functions to ensure the vision for the product is met
- Identifying required Product unit development needs and maintaining a prioritised product development roadmap and development backlogs
- Providing effective operational and delivery risk management across Product unit
- Ensuring products are well serviced, supported and perform within client expectations (including SLAs).
- Line managing product managers who lead teams of Product owners and technical SME, and functionally managing product TPLs (Technical Product Leads)
- Allocating budgeted resources to allow effective delivery of prioritised Product roadmaps
- Managing the Product unit budget to ensure cost‑effective utilisation of all available resources, within budget
- Developing and operating all Products, to agreed timescales, scope and quality (including security and service level objectives)
- Monitoring competition and ensuring product features remain competitive across the Product unit
Collaboration with ICT Leads
- Develop and communicate the global strategy for profitable growth and ensure alignment with market needs.
- Work with the Proposition Steering Group periodically to review allocation of investment across Product units.
Requirements
- Proven experience in senior strategic product roles, preferably within a SaaS environment.
- Experience fostering and directing cross‑team collaboration across both technology and product disciplines.
- Successful track record influencing and earning the respect of high‑calibre product and technical specialists.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adjust interaction and message to different levels across different disciplines.
- Experience in managing budgets and resource allocation.
- Enthusiastic, motivational, decisive, collaborative, always looking to improve the ways of working.
- Strong work ethic: proactive, tenacious, organised, hard‑working and working fast across multiple tasks.
- Strong academic qualifications, likely to have a first or upper‑second class degree or equivalent in a numerate subject (sciences, engineering, mathematics).

This role requires close collaboration with market-facing colleagues and Engineering Leaders to drive the product's success and alignment with market needs. The role operates at a Senior Director level in our career framework and reports to the Chief Proposition Officer (member of the InsurTech business executive team). The product units cover Insurance Reserving, Financial modelling and Business process automation. This role is one of three members of the Product Unit leadership team, also involving a Head of Markets (focused on commercial propositions and new/existing clients), as well as a Head of Technology (overseeing architecture, product development and operations).
