Overview
Job Reference: JH/EW/SuttonColdfield
Role: To support a young female to live independently and access the community as she attends college. The successful candidate will drive her to and from college, help her get into college, and be with her after college. The young female has a high level of anxiety and PTSD and requires emotional and physical support.
Responsibilities
* Travel to Tamworth College (family home in Sutton; approximately a 20-minute drive).
* Provide escort and support at college; be present when she finishes and ensure she gets home safely.
* Support her on college days (Monday, Tuesday, Friday) for 2 hours per day, totaling 6 hours per week.
* Be at the college 15 minutes before she finishes.
* On Mondays and Fridays, assist with the wheelchair (collapsible) and accompany in a standard car.
* Coordinate with a supported arrival at college (an existing support worker is waiting at arrival).
* Adhere to the agreed schedule with the times below:
* Monday: 8:00–9:00 and 16:30–17:30
* Tuesday: 12:00–13:00 and 17:30–18:30
* Friday: 8:00–9:00 and 16:15–17:15
Compensation
Hourly rate of pay: £12.21
Candidate Essentials / Qualifications
* Calm, supportive, adaptable and good at putting people at ease.
* The young female is very shy; once she gets to know the person, she chats, which helps distract her and reduce anxiety.
* Own vehicle with business class insurance is required.
* Subject to a 6-month probationary period.
* Subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check at the Employer's request prior to commencing employment. DBS check is confidential and at no cost to you.
Additional Information
The candidate is responsible for arranging their own vehicle insurance and must have business class insurance.
