Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Tarver Dialysis Unit and Acute Dialysis Team for the Unit manager post. Tarver Unit is bedded area that cares for patients with kidney failure and receiving Haemodialysis. Patients come to the unit times a week on MWF or TTHS. The Unit is open from am until : pm Monday to Saturday. We are also closed on Sundays, Christmas day and New Year Day. The Unit has also a bedded side room where we train patients and their families for Home Haemodialysis. This enables them to do their treatment independently in their own house.

Acute Team is a team of experienced band nurses who perform emergency or acute dialysis in the renal ward, days a week across the entire year. They also provide dialysis to our inpatients cohort and perform PLEX.

years of Renal Medicine Experience(including Dialysis) is essential.

This post will give the opportunity to support and lead a team of individuals of all levels in delivering high standards of specialist care. With senior support the successful candidate will be able to develop their management and leadership skills. There will be opportunity to attend appropriate courses and work clinically, acting as role model.

Main duties of the job

Please see attached job description for full details. The Unit Manager is an essential role in leading the team and overseeing the day-to-day operational issues on the unit. Management of staff, clinical support of patients, budgetary oversight and good knowledge of clinical governance and complaints policy will be the core of daily routine. Patient communications, Home Haemodialysis and promote patients independence is also a very important aspect of the role. Pro-action and visibility are essential.
