HV Fitter Up to 40k Job Summary We are seeking a skilled High Voltage (HV) Fitter with proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of substation equipment up to [insert kV rating, e.g., 132kV / 400kV]. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all HV systems are installed and commissioned safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, client standards, and industry regulations. Key Responsibilities Install, assemble, and maintain HV substation components, including transformers, switchgear, busbars, disconnectors, circuit breakers, and control panels. Carry out HV cable installation, terminations, jointing, and testing (where qualified). Assist in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities alongside commissioning engineers. Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and single line diagrams (SLDs). Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements, company procedures, and statutory regulations. Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and fault-finding on HV equipment. Support isolation, earthing, and switching operations under permit conditions (if authorised). Record test data, installation progress, and provide accurate documentation and reports. Liaise with engineers, supervisors, and clients to ensure technical and quality standards are met. Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in safe working condition. Qualifications & Experience Recognised Electrical Trade Qualification / NVQ Level 3 / Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Proven experience working on HV substations (typically 11kV-400kV). Competency in installation, testing, and maintenance of HV equipment. Understanding of electrical protection systems, switchgear, and control circuits. Experience working under Permit-to-Work and Safety Rules (e.g., National Grid, DNO, or Transmission Operator). Current CSCS / ECS Card, BESC, and Person / Authorised Person (AP) accreditation (preferred). Strong awareness of safe systems of work and electrical safety procedures
