Overview

Daventry NN11. A great, bank opportunity for a professional, calm and attentive Waking Night Carer to support a wonderful 20-year-old young lady during waking night shifts. Waking night cover on an as and when required basis, including short notice support. £17.26 gross per hour.


About this client

Sue is a delightful 20-year-old young woman with a wicked sense of humour, a cheeky grin, and a strong personality. She is non-verbal but communicates very clearly in her own way, using gestures, pointing, facial expressions, and by bringing items such as DVDs she would like to watch. Sue’s communication is supported using Picture Cards and some Makaton signs. Sue has a Learning Disability and epilepsy and enjoys an active, varied life. She is supported by a strong multidisciplinary team including Physio, Behaviour Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, and Occupational Therapy, with excellent training and guidance provided to her support team.


Responsibilities

Role involves waking night support to ensure safety, wellbeing, and comfort overnight, including close in-person observation and video monitoring due to seizure activity. Tasks include epilepsy management support, responding to interventions, supporting sleep hygiene and routines, assisting with personal care as needed, manual handling support (verbal prompts and light touch guidance), and support with eating and drinking (including light food and drink preparation). You will also administer medication as required, complete light household tasks, maintain accurate daily records, and provide a clear handover to daytime staff. The role is based in a family home with a dedicated carers room downstairs and access to a WC and family kitchen facilities.

* Nearest Tube/Station: Daventry/Welton
* Wage/Salary: £17.26 gross per hour
* Driver Essential? Not required for waking night shifts only. However, applicants wishing to undertake additional day or twilight shifts as a casual Support Worker must be willing and able to drive the client's WAV.
* Essential: Waking night experience and experience supporting a young person or adult with a learning disability and epilepsy. This role is open to female applicants only, and non-smoker / vapers
* Desirable: Experience of non-verbal communication, and use of visual communication aids
* Start Date: ASAP
* Days & Hours: Waking night shifts, 10.00pm – 8.00am. No set nights – shifts offered on an as and when required basis, which may include short notice cover. Additional daytime bank hours available if required.
