Garon Park Golf Complex is one of Southend's leading sports and leisure destinations, owned by the Norman Garon Trust, a local charity dedicated to improving community life through sport, wellbeing, and charitable initiatives. Our facilities include a busy golf complex with a clubhouse, driving range, café, bar, and event spaces that serve golfers, visitors, and community groups throughout the year.
We are now looking for an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager to take a hands-on operational role within our food and beverage department, helping to ensure the smooth, efficient, and high-quality delivery of service across all outlets.
The Role
Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, you will take direct responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our food and beverage services, including the café, bar, and events. You will be a visible leader on the floor, responsible for maintaining service standards, managing teams, and ensuring operations run efficiently, safely, and profitably.
This role is well suited to someone ready to step into a strong operational management position, with accountability for people, processes, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Take responsibility for the daily operation of the café, bar, and event services.
* Lead, supervise, and manage front-of-house teams to deliver consistently high service standards.
* Manage staff rotas, shift planning, training, and day-to-day performance.
* Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, health & safety, and licensing regulations.
* Oversee stock control, ordering, deliveries, and wastage management.
* Actively manage service delivery during busy periods, functions, and events.
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality, and commercial performance.
* Deputise for the Food & Beverage Manager when required, taking ownership of operations in their absence.
About You
You'll be an organised, confident, and hands-on hospitality professional who enjoys running a busy operation and leading teams from the front. You'll be comfortable making decisions, managing people, and taking responsibility for service delivery in a customer-focused environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within food & beverage or hospitality.
* Strong operational awareness and ability to manage busy service periods.
* Confident leadership and people management skills.
* Good understanding of stock control, cash handling, and basic cost management.
* Ability to work evenings, weekends, and events as required.
Desirable
* Experience within a golf club, leisure venue, or community-focused organisation.

Pay: £27,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
