About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health, Safety & Environment Officer
t
o join our team on a part-time basis. This role is crucial in ensuring that our workplace not only complies with legal safety requirements but also fosters a culture of well-being and best practices across our operations.

Key Responsibilities

* Advise and guide managers, supervisors, and employees on HS&E matters.
* Use experience, knowledge and skills to develop and promote a positive HS&E culture.
* Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and investigations, ensuring effective and timely action planning with a focus on risk reduction. Ensure the effective communication of lessons learned.
* Lead internal audits and support external audit processes. Effectively engage internal stakeholders in the audit process.
* Develop, implement, and update HS&E policies in compliance with current legislation. Keep up to date with new HSE legislation and best practice developments that affect the business.
* Take ownership of ensuring up to date compliance training is in place across the business. Delivering in-house training and coordinating external training where needed.
* Providing support for the Sustainability Action plan, including following up actions, compiling reports and contributing ideas.
* Effectively utilise the H&S System to manage documentation, processes and reports.
* Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on health and safety activities and performance.
* Make suggestions and implement agreed initiatives for continuous improvement of our H&S environment and sustainability plans.

Essential:

* NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
* 3–5 years' experience in a similar role or strong demonstrable knowledge in health & safety in a warehouse or manufacturing environment,
* Can demonstrate experience and/or training in effective incident investigation and route cause analysis.
* Strong PC literacy with Microsoft 365 and cloud-based systems (e.g., SharePoint, OneDrive) and ability to learn new software quickly, including H&S compliance and inspection apps.
* Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
* Full driving licence with access to transport.

Desirable:

* Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Health & Safety Management, Environmental Health).
* Skilled in digital data capture, reporting, and dashboard creation, with experience supporting paperless processes and workflow automation
* Relevant training qualification (e.g., Train the Trainer) or demonstrable experience
