The Role of the CNC Machinist

Sector - Precision Engineering / Manufacturing
Key Requirements for the CNC Machinist
- Demonstrated experience in CNC machining and/or a strong academic background in engineering, ideally supported by a recognised machining apprenticeship
- Previous experience working with metal components
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Proficient in conducting self‑inspection of machined components using manual measurement tools
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience setting and operating CNC machinery
- Knowledge of precision machining techniques
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Understanding of engineering tolerances and specifications
- Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment
Desirable Experience
- Additional Grinding Machinery experience
- Additional EDM (Electrical Discharge Machinery) experience
- Experience with multi‑axis CNC machines would be advantageous
- Knowledge of continuous improvement processes
