Laurel Bank Surgery is seeking a proactive, hands‑on IT Assistant to support our growing multisite GP practice. This is a key operational role providing day‑to‑day technical support, helping staff resolve IT issues quickly, and ensuring our digital systems run smoothly across all three sites.
You will play an important part in our digital transformation journey, supporting modern tools such as ambient AI, neighbourhood digital systems, and ICB‑led innovations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, working with people, and improving digital workflows in a busy healthcare environment.
Main duties of the job
You will be the first point of contact for IT issues across the practice, including:
* First‑line IT support for staff across all sites, including remote access troubleshooting.
* Managing the internal IT request log, triaging and escalating issues appropriately.
* Setting up new starters, including accounts, permissions, and equipment.
* Supporting EMIS, MS Office, AccuRx, Docman, and other clinical/administrative systems.
* Maintaining the IT asset register, licences, and warranties.
* Smartcard support as a delegated RA contact.
* Running simple EMIS searches, mail merges, and digital communications.
* Supporting digital innovation, including ambient AI, neighbourhood digital tools, and ICB programmes such as SRMS.
* Helping staff with training, quick guides, and digital confidence.
* Website and social media updates, ensuring content meets NHS standards.
* Supporting business continuity, backups, and digital resilience.
