MMP Consultancy is seeking an Estates Manager on behalf of an NHS Trust in North West London. This is a temporary position to start as soon as possible on a 3-month ongoing basis. The rate of pay will be £34ph umbrella over a 37.5 hour working week.
The successful candidate will oversee a wide range of engineering operations, ensuring full compliance with NHS Guidelines, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs) and all mandatory and statutory requirements. You will also act as an Authorised Person (AP) for relevant HTM and HSE functions.
Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality management of engineering services, including plant, equipment, staff and buildings.
Ensure statutory compliance, including maintenance policies, Permit to Work systems and regulatory documentation.
Manage and review maintenance contracts, ensuring high standards and timely delivery.
Support and collaborate with the Capital Projects Team, architects and consultants on major schemes.
Lead designated capital works projects from planning to supervision.
Manage contractor control processes and ensure adherence to Trust safety requirements.
Respond to emergencies, unplanned work and urgent operational issues across the hospital site.
Oversee safety in workshops, maintain up-to-date risk assessments and promote positive industrial relations.
Ensure sound financial management of departmental budgets, procurement and costing.
Maintain and develop Engineering Management Information Systems and the Building Management System.
Monitor, update and improve the Planned Preventative Maintenance system (BACKTRAQ).
Prepare reports, feasibility studies, project documents and long-term maintenance plans.
Inspect estate properties to review engineering conditions and determine future capital and maintenance needs.
Ensure compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act and manage related upgrade works.
Participate in on-call duties, providing guidance to clinical staff and senior managers.
Lead and participate in internal meetings, training sessions, technical briefings and statutory updates.Requirements:
Highly knowledgeable in engineering services within a healthcare or similarly complex environment.
Confident in leading teams, managing contractors and maintaining compliance.
Skilled in project management, problem solving and budget control.
Able to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies.

Carry out inspections and surveys in challenging environments (e.g. confined spaces, ducts, scaffolds).
Interact with patients, visitors and staff, sometimes in emotionally difficult situations.
