Installation & Operations Manager

Location: South Yorkshire / North of England

Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 per year

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent


About the Role

A well‑established installation and engineering business is looking to appoint an Installation & Operations Manager to oversee day‑to‑day operations and support the continued growth of the company.

The business is currently owner‑managed, and this role has been created to take responsibility for the operational running of installations, people, and processes. Over time, the position is intended to develop into a more senior leadership role for the right individual.

This is a practical, hands‑on management role, well suited to someone with a strong background in installations or site‑based engineering who is ready to step up.


The Role

You will be responsible for ensuring installations run smoothly and efficiently, managing people, schedules, and site activity.


Key Responsibilities

* Planning and managing daily installation schedules and workloads
* Coordinating engineers, subcontractors, and workshop activity
* Providing practical and technical input on non‑standard installation requirements
* Troubleshooting and resolving site issues, delays, and logistical challenges
* Ensuring health and safety standards are met across all operations
* Working closely with the business owner to gradually take on greater operational responsibility

This role involves regular interaction with site teams and is not a purely office‑based position.


About You

This position will suit someone who has progressed from a hands‑on installation or engineering background into a supervisory or management role.

* Previous experience working on installations or site‑based projects
* A practical, mechanical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills
* Experience managing engineers or site teams
* The ability to plan work, manage priorities, and respond to issues as they arise
* Confidence dealing with clients, engineers, and subcontractors
* An interest in developing into a senior leadership role over time

Management or operational experience is beneficial, but a strong technical background is essential.


Salary & Benefits

* £38,000 – £42,000 depending on experience
* 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
