We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed and talented Psychiatrist to join our Consultant team in Grampian. This post provides an opportunity to develop a novel approach to final year Undergraduate Medical Teaching combined with a clinical role. The post holder(s) will work part of the week in the Teaching Centre to deliver Psychiatric teaching and support to final year Medical Students who will assess patients referred by their General Practitioner. This will sit alongside a team of General Practitioner educators who will supervise Medical Students providing assessment and management of on the day Patients.
The post holder will oversee the work of the Students and provide clinical supervision as well as more formal teaching at other times of the week. The post holder will develop and shape the Psychiatric element of the teaching centre alongside the Undergraduate Psychiatric Teaching Team.
This post is combined with a clinical role working as a Consultant Psychiatrist within NHS Grampian in the subspecialty of the applicant’s choice.
With further digitalisation of our services there may be some opportunity to work in our hybrid work model with some sessions workable from home but the job will be primarily on site at Royal Cornhill Hospital.
Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post once CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration is awarded. Those with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR or Portfolio Pathway Specialist Registration can be made to the GMC.
