Job Purpose
This Engineering Apprenticeship Success Coach role (known internally as EPA Advisor) will support apprentices on the PDD and Mechatronics pathways of the historic Engineering Technician apprenticeship Standard, and newer engineering standards such as the Machining and Engineering to support the successful completion of EPA, with the scope to potentially support other apprenticeship Standards in the future as the MTC Training offering grows.
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a caseload of engineering apprentices, providing guidance and support to ensure successful progression and completion of their apprenticeship programmes.
The role will include consultation and supporting apprentices and their employers around all elements and logistics of the EPA process. The role will require travel to meet with apprentices and employers on their premises.
This role is flexible and may evolve in alignment with MTC Training’s apprenticeship delivery model, adapting to meet Skills England requirements and to enhance apprenticeship success rates.

Key Activities
The Coach will consult and support via remote on site and remote meetings on various technical disciplines and behaviours identified in the apprenticeship Standards across the MTC, OAS and employer locations.
The Coach will also manage a caseload of apprentices to support progress and completion of their apprenticeship journey with an understanding and experience of using e-portfolios (Smart Assessor, would be highly advantageous to this role).

The Coach will:
Be required to explain and champion policies, practices and MTC values. May need to adapt their approach to individual course delivery and delegate experience/knowledge levels accepting new concepts or processes.
Expected to provide expert advice and guidance to companies & stakeholders on opportunities, risks and possible impacts of decisions.
Be firm or assertive when appropriate.
Work within their defined area and in collaboration with senior stakeholders, may on occasion need to reach agreement or manage communication in relation to specific situations. Occasional external communication.
Practice active listening and demonstrate the ability to use information to promote positive outcomes for all stakeholders.
Possess good standard of written and verbal communication focused on delivering objectives and targets towards responsive adaptation to commercial delivery methods.

The Coach is expected to identify and recommend improvements to processes, policies or procedures, based on practical/operational experience and feedback from colleagues to improve practice, including:

Knowledge
The Coach will:
Have experience in providing advice to commercial delegates, mentors, managers and colleagues at all levels regarding the apprenticeship journey and EPA process.
Hold a current Technical competence within an engineering discipline (upskilling can be reviewed as part of the probation process).
Understand working with Awarding Organisations and interpretation of assessment criteria and assessment procedures within qualifications is essential.
Have Health & Safety awareness in an Engineering environment.
Be IT literate including generic Microsoft Office packages including Word, PowerPoint and MS Outlook.
Have an understanding and experience of using e-portfolios, ideally Smart Assessor, would be highly advantageous to this role.
Keep up to date with all the latest industry information.
Be aware of all changes in the legislation and apprenticeship standards.
Keep up to date with all changes which occur in regard to Awarding Organisations.
Qualifications
Engineering competence to at least Level 3.
A recognised Assessor qualification and experience of assessing is essential and a willingness to undertake the End Point Assessor qualification if not already held.
Full UK driving license is essential.
Internal Quality Assurance qualification and experience is desirable, or willingness to complete this as part of the probation period.
