Roles Available in Location: Barnard Castle, Worthing, GSK HQ, Ware
Education required: To apply for this placement, you must be currently studying an Undergraduate Degree in Marketing, Business, Humanities, Communications, Sociology, Psychology, English, HR, Media, arts or related.
Other requirements: You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK or ROI University for the duration of your placement.
If you have already graduated with a bachelor’s degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme.
Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English
Expected Start date: June 2026
Duration: 1 year (approximately)
Salary: A salary of £27,100 (London) or £25,400 (other locations) plus a bonus.

Role 1 – Strategy & Change Communications - Barnard Castle
Workplace Arrangements: Full time on site required.
Overview A communications placement to support the internal communications plan and activities for the site, including drafting materials and organising events to engage staff.
Key Placement Learnings
* Keeping employees informed of change, performance and progress
* Delivering the site’s communications strategy
* Drafting news stories, case studies and features for internal and external channels
* Preparing materials from posters to videos
* Organising town halls and site campaigns
* Creating clear messages across platforms
* Engaging with different levels of the business
* Utilising and improving digital platforms
Role 2 – Communications & Events - Worthing
Workplace Arrangements: Full time on site required.
Overview Develop communications materials to support leaders’ messaging and staff engagement; build relationships across the site and contribute to safety, sustainability and quality culture initiatives.
Key Placement Learnings
* Managing daily and weekly newsletters
* Channels management
* Supporting the site’s communication strategy
* Organising site events and campaigns
* Drafting communications materials from posters to videos
Role 3 – Communications and Government Affairs – GSK HQ
Workplace Arrangements: Flexible working via performance with choice (office & home working may be available).
Overview The CGA function builds engagement and protects our reputation, with placements in teams such as Digital Channels and Communications, Emerging Markets, European Commercial Communications, Internal Engagement Communications, R&D Communications, and UK Commercial Communications and Government Affairs to support internal and external needs.
Key Placement Learnings
* Develop writing and briefing skills for internal/external audiences
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop materials
* Research healthcare trends and external insights
* Manage projects and prioritise tasks
* Work in a multi-cultural, global organisation
Role 4 – ViiV Digital Channels and Communications – GSK HQ
Workplace Arrangements: Flexible working via performance with choice (office & home working may be available).
Overview Promote ViiV Healthcare and produce unbranded, educational content about HIV to reduce stigma and support ending the epidemic.
Key Placement Learnings
* Develop and execute digital content with stakeholders
* Manage the global website and ensure accuracy
* Monitor and report on social media performance
* Execute content across global channels
Role 5 – Site Communications Officer - Ware
Workplace Arrangements: Flexible working via performance with choice (office & home working may be available).
Overview Support a range of communications programmes to engage site employees in safety, sustainability and quality culture and continuous improvement.

* Content creation
* Written and audio-visual communications
* Event management
* Channels management
* Employee Resource Group communications
Role 6 – ViiV Communications & Positive Action – GSK HQ
Workplace Arrangements: Flexible working via performance with choice (office & home working may be available).
Overview Positive Action supports grants to reduce stigma and HIV-related initiatives and works across a global programme.
Key Placement Learnings
* Supporting grant processes and management
* Gathering and sharing programme learning
* Developing the Positive Action thematic swim lanes
