Role: Membership Growth Manager Based: Newcastle (covering the North of the region) plus hybrid working Department: Membership Contract: Permanent Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Mon-Fri Salary: £34,000 - £36,000 ROLE OVERVIEW The Membership Growth Manager plays a vital role in supporting the Chamber’s ambitions by helping to deliver effective acquisition strategies, nurturing prospective members, and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience. The postholder will manage early‑stage prospecting, support the full sales cycle, and take a lead role in coordinating and attending events within their area to drive visibility and engagement. Working closely with the Senior Membership Growth Manager, marketing and account management teams, they will help shape compelling value propositions and contribute to membership targets. KEY TASKS Supporting Sales Strategy & Pipeline Development Support the Senior Membership Growth Manager in delivering the membership sales strategy across priority sectors. Conduct research to identify prospective members and new lead opportunities. Build, maintain and update a strong pipeline through outreach, follow‑up and networking. Hold high‑quality conversations with prospects, clearly articulating the Chamber’s value. Event Coordination & Representation Take the lead on events within geographical area, including: Booking onto relevant internal and external events Coordinating attendance and preparing materials Representing the Chamber professionally at events Using events strategically to generate leads and build relationships Provide insight from events to help refine approaches and improve engagement. Presentations & Value Proposition Deliver confident, compelling presentations and membership overviews to prospective members. Relationship Building & Onboarding Build strong relationships with prospective members throughout the sales cycle. Ensure a smooth transition from prospect to new member, supporting onboarding activities. Maintain regular contact with new members to ensure early engagement and satisfaction. Collaboration & Internal Alignment Work closely with marketing, account management and member services to ensure a joined‑up approach to acquisition and onboarding. Share insight from conversations, events and market activity to support proposition development. Market Insight Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity and best practice to help refine approaches and maintain a competitive edge. KEY REQUIREMENTS Qualifications Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English. Skills & Experience Strong relationship‑building and communication skills, particularly the use of telephone and email Experience in business development, membership, customer engagement or similar. Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload effectively. Confident presenting to a range of audiences. Target‑driven with the ability to meet performance expectations. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills. Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office. Ability to work collaboratively across teams. Other Ability to work flexibly across locations and hours when required. Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Enthusiasm for supporting the North East business community.
