Skills Tutor (JGW+)

Contract term: Permanent

Hours: Full time, 37 hours over 5 days

Location: ACT Ltd, Ocean Park House, East Tyndall Street, Cardiff, CF24 5ET

Salary: Grade 5 £27,430 rising to £30,722per annum.

At ACT, our Behaviour Framework shapes everything we do. We are looking for a Skills Tutor who shows genuine respect for every learner, communicates with openness and integrity, and brings creativity and energy to engage young people who may have faced barriers to education.

You will be motivated to inspire and empower learners to progress, while maintaining clarity in your planning, decision-making and communication. If you are resilient, adaptable and committed to making a meaningful difference through high-quality, inclusive delivery — we would love to hear from you.

In this rewarding role, you'll deliver engaging skills training and enrichment activities to learners on our Jobs Growth Wales+ (JGW+) programmes, supporting young people who are not currently in education, employment or training (NEET). You'll help learners build confidence, develop essential skills, and prepare for future employment or further learning — while actively promoting wellbeing, resilience and positive engagement.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll plan and deliver sessions that combine essential skills (maths, English and life skills) with creative, practical experiences that bring learning to life in a safe and supportive environment.

What you'll do:

· Deliver engaging and meaningful training sessions that help learners develop employability and personal skills.

· Plan progressive sessions that build on previous learning and contribute towards qualifications.

· Organise enrichment activities, trips and guest speakers that broaden learners' experiences.

· Actively promote and monitor learner wellbeing, creating a safe, inclusive environment where learners feel supported, valued and able to thrive.

· Support learners' individual needs by maintaining effective learning plans and liaising with colleagues.

· Use ACT's systems (e.g., Vision2) to monitor progress and track outcomes.

· Identify and support learners at risk of disengagement, using proactive strategies to keep them on track.

· Liaise with Job Centres, Careers Wales, support agencies and other stakeholders.

· Uphold ACT's safeguarding, equality, and sustainability standards at all times.

Full details of the role and responsibilities can be found in the job description.

If you're motivated by improving lives through learning and want to make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.

ACT is committed to promoting the Welsh language for both staff and learners, and whilst it is not considered essential criteria, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role.

What we need from you:

· Experience of teaching or delivering training in a learning environment.

· Experience of qualification delivery.

· GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C / Level 2 or above.

· Ability to relate to and motivate young people.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Strong organisational and IT skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel).

· A flexible, proactive team player who can also work independently.

· Willingness to travel to other centres when needed (full driving licence required).

· Resilient, adaptable and professional.

· Committed to personal and professional development.

· Dedicated to living ACT's values
