Job Title: Operations and Maintenance Engineer – EV Charging Infrastructure Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 DOE Location: Bristol (Hybrid – office and remote) Imagine your next mission delivering vital public service on a city scale. You’ve thrived in high-stakes environments, maintaining critical electrical systems under pressure. Now picture applying that same drive to keep Bristol’s electric-vehicle network online, directly powering climate action and daily life. This role offers you the chance to step off the tools, lead complex installations and shape processes that enable a cleaner, more resilient city. Why this role You’ll be at the heart of a pioneering city-wide decarbonisation programme, responsible for ensuring that every AC and DC charge point is ready when drivers need it. Your work means fewer breakdowns, faster fixes and greater confidence in EV technology. With your disciplined approach and attention to detail, you’ll help Bristol achieve its net-zero targets while influencing the development of best-in-class maintenance procedures. The sense of purpose you felt serving your country will continue here, as you deliver tangible benefits for businesses, public institutions and residents alike. What you’ll do You will manage contractor teams through each stage of installation, commissioning and maintenance, balancing remote troubleshooting with hands-on site visits. Interpreting BS 7671 regulations, you’ll lead fault-finding exercises, verify compliance records and author clear technical procedures. Your confident challenge of design assumptions will refine installation standards, while your meticulous reporting will underpin transparent performance monitoring. Regular liaison with project managers, clients and manufacturers will ensure smooth handovers and rapid resolution of any issues.
