Senior Authorised Person (up to 132kV)
Base Location: South West (Bristol, Swansea and surrounding areas, with travel to project sites)
Salary: Up to £65,000 basic + car allowance, plus overtime and on-call payments
Contract: Permanent | Full-time (37 hours per week, with rota cover as required)
The Opportunity On behalf of our client, we are recruiting a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) with expertise in HV and EHV operations up to 132kV. This role is central to the safe control of electrical networks across a portfolio of engineering projects, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and maintaining high standards of safety and reliability.
The successful candidate will act as a technical lead, overseeing switching operations, outage planning, and supporting both project delivery and emergency restoration. This is a varied and challenging position, offering the chance to work on complex projects across the South West.
Key Responsibilities for Senior Authorised Person (up to 132kV)
Carry out HV/LV switching, isolation, earthing, testing, and fault location
Prepare and manage switching schedules and methods of work
Issue safety documentation including permits to work and safety forms of test
Oversee construction, maintenance, and fault restoration works on HV/LV networks up to 132kV
Act as the delegated lead electrical person during emergencies and supply restoration
Lead safety initiatives — toolbox talks, inductions, RAMS reviews, incident investigations, and SHE plans
Provide technical support and supervision for jointers, fitters and other operational teams
Deliver smaller project works including client liaison, reporting, and commercial oversight
Mentor trainee SAPs, support training programmes, and maintain operational authorisationsCandidate Profile for Senior Authorised Person (up to 132kV)
Authorised to carry out HV switching (minimum 11kV–33kV)
Current DNO or equivalent Certificate of Authorisation
Strong technical knowledge of HV/LV switchgear and related equipment
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and promote a strong safety culture
Excellent communication and organisational skills
