The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Work Winning Lead to join our PS&I Team within any UK Office. The Work Winning Lead’s purpose is to direct large complex bids resulting in winning rewarding work across the portfolio, in all relevant geographies and service lines.
This role has the following areas of focus:
Partnering with the Portfolio Lead to sustain and grow their business in the medium and long term.
This role is in PS&I Portfolio team. The Work Winning Lead will work closely with the leadership to design and implement work winning strategy, including client engagement, capture, bidding, information and knowledge management, and performance review, insights and reporting.
Is this role right for you?
The Work Winning Lead will partner with the Portfolio Lead and their exec team, directing work winning strategy and activity for the Portfolio. The Work Winning Lead will also manage the Portfolio proposals team, providing advice and direction on bid strategy, and support and guidance on professional development. The Work Winning Lead will be a cornerstone of bidding best practice at Arup, working at Portfolio and Region level.
1. Lead business development strategy—bridge communications, marketing, client engagement, and bidding activities
2. Manage opportunity pipeline—enhance bid quality, win rate, and return on investment to meet long-term business goals
3. Oversee capture & governance processes—ensure strategic bid execution, compliance, and approval processes align with company policy.
4. Build and maintain client/partner networks—collaborate with key stakeholders to strengthen relationships and drive business growth.
5. Develop and lead proposals team—support bidding excellence, recruitment, and long-term capability development across all UKIMEA geographies.
Requirements
6. Direct bidding experience ideally within one of the following sectors, transport, commercial property, Sport, Healthcare Buildings and Infrastructure or Science Industry Technology (SIT).
7. Market insight, including key clients, partners, competitors, and evolving trends.
8. Strong understanding of private and public procurement practices, preferably within the Portfolio area
9. Ability to manage a dynamic pipeline of Strategic Major Opportunities.
10. Technical and commercial awareness to assess risks and opportunities in bids.
11. Competitive drive and commitment to meeting challenging deadlines
12. Skilled in identifying and communicating winning strategies.
13. Personable, resilient, and highly collaborative approach.
