Contracts Manager – Utility Arborist: Role Overview
A Contracts Manager – Utility Arborist is responsible for managing contracts related to vegetation management around utility infrastructure, such as power lines, pipelines, and communication networks. This position ensures that all tree work and vegetation clearance is carried out safely, efficiently, on budget, and in compliance with utility regulations and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Contract & Project Management
* Manage utility vegetation management (UVM) contracts from tender to completion.
* Develop work plans, allocate resources, and ensure contract deliverables are met.
* Monitor contract performance metrics (KPIs, safety stats, service levels).
* Utility Compliance & Safety
* Ensure work meets utility provider specifications (e.g., clearance standards).
* Enforce health and safety protocols (e.g., OSHA, ANSI Z133, NESC).
* Conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
* Team & Operations Oversight
* Lead crews of utility arborists and subcontractors.
* Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and emergency response work.
* Manage equipment use, fleet requirements, and material procurement.
* Client Relationship Management
* Act as the point of contact for utility clients.
* Conduct regular reporting and progress updates.
* Resolve disputes and ensure high client satisfaction.
* Budget & Cost Control
* Monitor budgets, control costs, and approve supplier invoices.
* Prepare tender documents and assist in bidding for new contracts.
Skills & Qualifications
