An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and capable colleague to join our Highways Operations Team as a Highways Gully Operative based at Tadman Street, Wakefield.
What will be expected from me?
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking as part of a team, or as an individual predominantly involved in the physical side of cleaning and removal of gully detritus/blockages including drainage investigations in a coordinated, timely and efficient way to reduce the impact of flooding/standing water and ice forming on the network during winter months.
You will ensure value for money and sustainability within Wakefield Metropolitan District Council highway network.
What I might be doing?
1. Completion of all works within the requirements of the Highways Gully Strategy.
2. Works completed in an effective manner that minimises disruption to all road users within the District.
3. Completion of all works within the required timescales.
4. Work is caried out safety.
5. Work is carried out to specification.
Essential requirements:
6. Large Goods Vehicle Class 1 (Class CE) or Class 2 (Class C) or relevant experience in gully cleansing and drainage investigations.
7. Certificate of competence on the use of specialist equipment (including fitments) such as High Pressure Jetter, Penny Lifter, Boom Lift and hydraulic lifter.

8. This is a full-Time post of 37 hours per week.
