Overview
Project Development Manager role at Kent based in Woking. The successful candidate will manage an entire project team including project engineering managers, project engineers, engineering disciplines, project services and third parties, and will be accountable for delivering Feasibility, Conceptual Design, Pre-FEED, FEED or Detailed Design projects in accordance with the Contract, within budget and schedule and to agreed corporate and client HSSE and Quality standards.
Responsibilities
* Typically manages and is responsible for the delivery of Feasibility, Conceptual Design, Pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed design projects.
* Lead the project from Feasibility through to Detail engineering, guiding the Client through gates and approvals.
* Provide Leadership in HSSE and QA/QC; approve project HSSE and QA/QC plans and monitor implementation; support audits where necessary.
* Establish and resource project requirements (staffing, facilities, IT infrastructure, information management); review demobilisation plans to minimise cost.
* Manage initial mobilisation of the core project team; ensure actions are assigned, timescales agreed, and communication channels established.
* Approve the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and subsidiary coordination procedures; ensure effective implementation and support audits as needed.
* Provide leadership for technical reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, value engineering, design integrity, 3D model reviews) with support from Project Engineering Manager and lead engineers.
* Accountable for the entire project budget and contract; coordinate initiation, execution and close-out within schedule and contractual requirements; manage relationships with Clients, Engineering, Subcontractors and other parties; aim to deliver gross margin.
* Establish mechanisms for external/internal progress monitoring and reporting; manage personnel to ensure effective monitoring and budget control; administer change management processes and implement corrective action as needed.
* Make management, commercial and technical decisions; consult with Project Sponsor/Director on major issues and implement resolutions.
* Supervise the project team (typically 10-15 personnel) including engineers, designers, and third-party contractors.
* Spend the majority of time on supervision, planning, coordination, meetings, critical approvals and stakeholder engagement.
In addition to the above, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks within the scope of the role. All tasks will be assigned with consideration of workload and professional development.
Knowledge / Qualification / Training / Certification
* Degree in Engineering.
* Chartered status preferred; significant related project management experience in Engineering/Client organisations in the Oil and Gas Industry.
* Knowledge of international equipment specifications and codes.
* Knowledge of standard international specifications and codes.
* Thorough knowledge of Safety and Quality procedures.
* Excellent knowledge of planning and project controls.
Communication
* Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
Behaviour / Core Competencies
* Experience of managing FEED and Detailed Design projects.
* Excellent understanding of contract terms and conditions.
