Head of Broker Change
Role Description
As Head of Broker Change you will lead strategic business improvements across Allianz Personal Broker, focusing on large-scale, complex projects with significant business impact. Driving the delivery and coordinated management of change programmes and specific business improvement projects to meet Allianz Personal Broker's strategic objectives.
You will provide oversight of the Broker Change Roadmap, collaborating with senior stakeholders to align priorities with strategic goals, while emphasising Agile adoption and expertise in Agile methodologies and reporting.
The role will be based in London or Chelmsford with regular travel to other locations required
Responsibilities
* Programme Planning and Agile Implementation: Manage and oversee the Broker Agile planning process, ensuring key initiatives are strategically planned and supported. Design and execute programme activities, assessing the feasibility of interconnected project benefits and delivery. Implement Agile methodologies to enhance flexibility and responsiveness. Produce Agile documentation to clearly articulate outputs, commitments, and progress, ensuring transparency and alignment with strategic objectives.
* Project Oversight and Business Support: Provide oversight and business support for strategic programs of work, collaborating closely with Epic Managers to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Support the team with business-led projects, stepping in to lead when necessary, while leveraging Agile practices to optimise project execution and maintain quality standards.
* Team Management: Oversee team members, including junior project staff and business partners, ensuring deliverables are met. Foster an Agile mindset and collaborative environment.
* Risk and Issue Management: Proactively manage project risks and issues using Agile tools and techniques for effective risk mitigation.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with senior leadership across Allianz Broker, Allianz Personal, Transformation and the wider Group (up to Executive level) to align priorities and ensure successful delivery of targets, advocating Agile principles to enhance stakeholder engagement.
* Systems and Process Oversight: Maintain oversight of key systems and process standards, holding application ownership and attestation for Broker-specific systems.
* Governance and Prioritisation: Establish governance and prioritisation for the Broker local change workstack, using Agile prioritization techniques to ensure fair and effective prioritisation.
* Strategic Project Oversight and Change Roadmap Leadership: Shape and lead the Broker change roadmap, working closely with the Broker Leadership Team to steer priorities and ensure full transparency of change initiatives. Monitor all key strategic projects across Allianz Broker and wider Transformation deliveries, providing insights into capacity and potential planning challenges. Track and report progress to the Broker Commercial Director and Managing Director through appropriate governance forums, utilising Agile reporting methods to maintain alignment with strategic objectives.
Key Accountabilities
Business Improvement and Change Leadership: Drive the delivery of Broker Change Programmes and Projects. Lead, manage, and develop projects, work streams, and initiatives of varying scale and complexity, ensuring:
* Achievement of agreed outcomes, deliverables, and benefits within time and budget constraints.
* Optimal utilisation of team resources across projects/initiatives.
* Continuous improvement and development of skills and knowledge to support Allianz Broker's evolving needs.
* Regular progress meetings to log and manage actions, issues, and risks, with regular tracking and reporting using Agile tools
* Implementation and maintenance of benefit realisation processes.
* Timely identification and escalation of risks as needed.
* Leadership of the Broker change team, fostering a shared vision and Agile approach.
Stakeholder Management: Cultivate effective relationships with key stakeholders:
* Understand Allianz Broker and broader Allianz Personal strategies, business priorities, and key issues.
* Engage key stakeholders up to Executive level, ensuring awareness of impacts.
* Work collaboratively with the Head of Transformation for Personal Lines and eTMO function to ensure alignment and integration of change initiatives, fostering a unified approach to transformation and strategic planning..
* Serve as a business conduit for AZ Tech and Transformation.
* Secure stakeholder signoff on detailed project plans, including tasks, dependencies, milestones, owners, resources, and timelines.
* Embed structured delivery techniques and continuously review methodologies with a focus on Agile practices.
Strategic Contribution: Support other project work streams, processes, and strategic planning:
* Collaborate with Allianz Broker senior leadership team to actively manage priorities and maintain long-term visibility of the Broker Change roadmap
* Contribute to strategic planning, shaping ideas and initiatives into defined projects with clear requirements and business cases.
* Participate in projects and initiatives led by other business areas within Allianz Broker, Transformation, and Group to maximise team benefits.
* Conduct post-implementation reviews, sharing learnings with work stream, project, and senior managers, and key stakeholders. Embed agreed improvements into change and project management processes for continuous improvement.
Coaching and Development: Support other project work streams:
* Drive cultural change for business process improvements and sustainable business transformation, emphasising Agile principles.
* Coach and develop direct reports and wider team members to support talent development, maximise performance, and support personal development plans.
Skills & Experience
* Strong leadership and collaborative management skills, with expertise in Agile methodologies.
* Ability to coach and mentor teams to achieve high performance, fostering an Agile mindset.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Strong planning and organisational skills to deliver accurate work under pressure, using Agile planning techniques.
* Proficiency in project and change management with a focus on Agile practices.
* Experience in change development and implementation within financial services.
* Ability to think abstractly and view the big picture, identifying linkages and dependencies between work streams and activities.
* Knowledge of insurance operations processes and business practices.
* Familiarity with insurance IT systems and processes.
* Professional qualifications such as CII or Project Management certification preferred.
* Strong numerical and IT skills.
* Experience with commercial and personal lines insurance products is advantageous.
* Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
* Background in insurance brokerage or underwriting.
