Associate General Counsel

We are working with international and US law firms who are actively seeking legal professionals with strong Conflicts and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) experience to move into, or laterally transition into, General Counsel roles.
These firms are looking for individuals who can serve as key advisors on complex conflict clearances and ethical, reputational and regulatory matters. You will act as a crucial bridge between compliance and legal operations, working closely with new business intake teams, firm leadership and partners across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as a senior escalation point for conflict of interest issues, AML compliance and reputational risk assessments relating to new clients and matters
* Provide strategic, ethical and regulatory advice directly to partners and senior stakeholders
* Train and support new business intake teams across global offices.
* Collaborate on enhancements to new matter intake systems and compliance frameworks
* Translate complex regulatory and conflict issues into actionable guidance for transactional lawyers
* Anticipate legal and operational risks, support firm strategy and promote a high performance and inclusive culture
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Qualified to practise in England and Wales and or New York State
* Minimum Four years of experience, including at least two years post qualification experience at a major international or national firm
* Deep expertise in legal conflicts, AML regulations and professional conduct rules, particularly in the UK and US
* Experience using systems such as Intapp Open, along with strong Microsoft Office proficiency
* Proven ability to communicate legal complexity in a clear, commercial manner
* Demonstrated leadership in navigating risk, supporting firm strategy and promoting team development
* Strong project management skills and the ability to work across cross functional and cross border teams
