Your next role
This is a practical, hands-on apprenticeship where you'll learn on the job. Your main responsibility will be to support the repair and maintenance of council premises, adhering to Swindon Borough Council standards and training matrix. Tasks include:
* Carrying out repairs to plumbing and central heating systems.
* Understanding and maintaining plumbing and drainage systems, including repairs to WC systems, leaks, and drain unblocking.
* Maintaining high water hygiene standards.
* Understanding and maintaining plant, safety systems, and equipment.
* Implementing energy and environmental practices.
* Maintaining grounds and external building fabric, such as drainage and guttering.
* Managing resources and stock.
* Applying principles of planned preventative maintenance.
* Preparing for refurbishment or deep cleaning.
* Providing excellent customer service.
About you
We are looking for candidates who have:
* 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Maths and English, or predicted grades.
* Good numeracy and literacy skills.
* A willingness to learn and apply practical knowledge.
* A provisional driving license or willingness to obtain one and pass the SBC transport driver assessment.
* Some experience dealing with the public.
* Effective communication skills.
* Problem-solving abilities.
* A basic understanding of the relevant trade.
