Duties as Cover Manager: Manage daily teacher cover arrangements across the secondary school Coordinate planned and unplanned staff absence to ensure continuity of learning Allocate internal and external cover staff efficiently Communicate cover arrangements clearly to teaching and support staff Maintain accurate records of staff absence and cover usage Liaise with senior leaders regarding staffing pressures and solutions Support timetable adjustments when required Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed during cover arrangements Contribute to the smooth operational running of the school day Ideal Cover Manager: Previous experience in a school administration or cover management role is highly desirable Strong organisational and time‑management skills Ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure Excellent communication skills with staff at all levels Confident using school MIS and timetabling systems Proactive, reliable, and able to use initiative Strong attention to detail Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare Why Step Teachers?
