SEN Science Teacher – Northamptonshire

Location: Northamptonshire
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time
Inspire, Engage and Transform Through Science!We are recruiting a passionate and adaptable SEN Science Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive specialist school in Northamptonshire. This is an excellent opportunity to teach Science to learners with a wide range of additional needs, including SEMH, ASD,munication difficulties and cognitive learning needs.Your role will help pupils develop curiosity, confidence and key scientific understanding within a safe, structured and nurturing setting.

• Deliver engaging, practical and accessible Science lessons tailored to individual needs
• Use trauma‑informed and relationship‑based approaches to support learning
• Work closely with experienced support staff to implement consistent routines
• Help pupils build resilience, independence and confidence through hands-on scientific exploration
• Develop positive, trusting relationships that inspire long-term progress
Your creativity, patience and adaptability will create a classroom where pupils feel secure, understood and motivated to learn.
Your Key Responsibilities• Plan and deliver differentiated Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
• Adapt scientific concepts into accessible, practical learning experiences
• Use strategies such as visual supports, positive reinforcement and de‑escalation techniques
• Maintain a safe and well-organised science environment, ensuring all practical work meets health and safety requirements
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, therapists and families
• Track and record pupil progress; contribute to EHCP reviews, reports and multi‑agency meetings
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and transitions throughout the school day
What We’re Looking For• QTS or QTLS (Science specialism desirable but not essential)
• Experience teaching pupils with SEN and/or SEMH needs
• Strong understanding of differentiated learning and trauma‑informed practice
• A nurturing, patient and resilient approach to behaviour
• Ability to break downplex scientific concepts into engaging, accessible steps
• Excellentmunication and teamwork skills
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
