We’re looking for an Assistant Buyer to join our commercial team, supporting the Gifting & Publications category. The Opportunity This is far more than a traditional Assistant Buyer role. You’ll support the Buyer in managing and developing the Publications category across multiple ships, cruise lines and guest demographics. You’ll help review performance, maintain strong supplier relationships, coordinate launches and ensure ranges remain relevant, commercial and well executed. With different ships serving different customers around the world, this role requires both strong organisation and a sharp understanding of what customers want. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders across Merchandising, Operations and Finance, while also supporting supplier meetings, reporting and category planning. Typical areas of focus will include: Supporting range selection and category planning Reviewing trends, customer demand and market activity Managing supplier communication and key timelines Supporting trading analysis and weekly performance reviews Producing reports and presentations for the wider business Maintaining pricing, product data and systems accuracy Coordinating with cross-functional teams to drive execution This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and wants to build a long-term career in buying. What We’re Looking For Experience in a Buying Assistant, Assistant Buyer or similar commercial role Interest in books, media, publications or customer-led retail categories Relevant qualification in buying, merchandising, product or related field Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills Analytical mindset with good commercial awareness Organised with excellent attention to detail Strong communication and relationship-building skills Able to prioritise effectively and manage deadlines Proactive, adaptable and eager to learn Positive team player who enjoys working collaboratively Why Join Harding?
