Experience Required:
At least 2 years' experience in managing a fish processing line, experience working in a processing area is desirable.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The main purpose of the role is to plan, organise, co-ordinate and control personnel, machinery and materials and the activities of your team to achieve production plan with specific regard for safety, quality and completion times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Optimisation of all factors critical to achieving attainment of the production plan within the agreed timescale including: Management and control of services and materials to the area; Set up and control of production lines & processes to meet the required production rate, quality & food safety specification; Direct team communication, motivation and organisation; Coordination with other departments including Technical, Logisitics & Engineering.
2. Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the direct team/between departments through: Coaching & formal training of staff; Operation of a system of 'short interval control', ensuring production efficiency is monitored and reported hourly as directed by the Shift Manager with root causes of under performance addressed/reported in the shortest possible timeframe; Completion of required action boards/paperwork capturing shift progress.
3. To continuously monitoring and minimise all costs of production including food materials (process & packing waste, rejects & giveaway), packaging waste and labour (correct staffing & minimisation of production downtime).
4. To develop your team to achieve maximum potential, identifying and addressing welfare and training needs. Manage absence and disciplinary matters in line with company policy, in conjunction with the HR department.
5. To monitor staff in regards to site procedures concerning food safety, personal and line hygiene and to make sure housekeeping never falls below the GMP standard. Understand & promote the site 'Food Safety Culture Plan'.
6. Ensure that all required production line checks and documentation are accurately conducted with any non-conformances found raised in a timely manner to the Shift Manager.
7. Uphold and promote site Health & Safety procedures/practices, ensuring completion of all required line safety/audit checks. Follow up of any near misses and accidents as required in conjunction with Shift Manager/Compliance Manager.
8. Communicate to your team any visits which are likely to take place within the factory.
9. Ensure that shift hand over is communicated effectively.
10. Follow effective equipment start up and shut down procedures.
