Mencap is seeking a dedicated Property Compliance Officer to join our team as a part‑time (22.5 hours per week) permanent job‑share role with flexible work location options.
Responsibilities
* Ensure properties meet all legal, health & safety, and compliance standards.
* Coordinate reactive and quoted works with contractors and site teams.
* Identify, assess and escalate repair and compliance risks.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs and certifications.
* Liaise with landlords, housing associations, contractors and internal teams.
* Ensure value for money in repairs and challenge contractors where required.
* Support and deputise for the Property Manager, including stakeholder engagement.
* Prepare compliance and repairs data for reporting purposes.
* Stay up to date with legislation and regulatory changes, advising colleagues accordingly.
* Monitor KPIs and escalade underperformance.
* Take responsibility for one or more compliance areas, such as Gas, Legionella, Asbestos, EICRs or Fire Systems.

* Strong communication skills across telephone, email and face‑to‑face.
* Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to manage complex workloads and meet deadlines.
* Confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders.

* Self‑motivated, organised and proactive.
Requirements
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in property repairs and/or compliance.
* Knowledge of building maintenance legislation and procedures.
* Experience working with housing providers or housing associations.
* Strong data analysis and report‑writing skills.
* Customer‑focused approach with a commitment to resident involvement.
* Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, supporting people with learning disabilities.
* Experience in a values‑driven organisation is desirable.
