Job Purpose
The ice cream processing team at Colworth has an exciting vacancy for a Senior Electrical, Control & Automation Engineer based at their Advanced Prototyping Engineering Centre. This role involves producing working specifications that meet customer requirements for the electrical, controls and automation aspect of innovation projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with Brand & Product Development Teams, Mechanical Designers, Process Engineers to produce a working specification that meets customer requirements for the electrical, controls & automation aspects of a project.
* Plan the electrical, control and automation aspects of the project, set timescales, define a budget and ensure on time and in full delivery within budget.
* Take on some of the electrical and control design aspects of systems and produce drawings.
* Interact with suppliers and external contractors to buy components, build control systems or supervise build carried out by others, including wiring electrical, control, instrumentation and pneumatic equipment.
* Install, attend commissioning and modify as necessary for development of prototype machines and rigs on the Colworth site and, if required, at associated companies in the UK and abroad.
* Repair & fault find control systems, generating ideas/solutions where problems are found.
* Observe all electrical safety rules and codes of practice in accordance with TMICC Regulations and relevant safety legislation (e.g., PUWER and CE marking).
* Ensure users know how to use new equipment by writing operating instructions or manuals if required.

Relevant Experience & Skills
* Knowledge of all safety rules and codes of practice in accordance with UK Regulations and other relevant safety legislation (e.g., EU).
* Produce component units and full assemblies using good fitting and wiring practices.
* Reading and drafting electrical diagrams.
* Experience working with stainless steel/plastic control panels.
* Creative problem solver and growth mindset.
* Team player in a multi-cultural, multi-discipline environment.
* Fluent English & strong communication skills.
* Control system simulation and automation.
* Engineering Degree in Electronics, Control and Instrumentation or Electrical/Controls apprenticeship.
* Electrical inspection, testing and fault finding.
* Proven experience of designing and building process control systems.
* Experience in electric, pneumatic and/or mechanical engineering.
* Experience of project management.
* Experience working with Siemens (TIA Portal, LogoSoft) and Rockwell (Studio 5000).
Travel Requirements
Occasional UK and international travel will be required approximately 2-3 trips per year.
