We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to support the process Technicians in ensuring the overall operations of our wastewater treatment works at Earlswood near Redhill in Surrey.
You will need to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate mechanical plant equipment alongside supporting the operation of the plant.
Working within the team, you will follow a robust maintenance plan as well as get involved in installation projects, mechanical fault finding, project commissioning and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician
* Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults during incidents.
* Carrying out planned maintenance on mechanical equipment according to company standards and procedures.
* Providing technical advice to the team, referencing up-to-date knowledge, and supporting technical trainees if required.
* Maintaining technical equipment such as pumps, control gear, valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, pipework, and chemical handling and dosing equipment.
Base Location - Earlswood - Redhill - RH1 5HE.
Working Pattern: 38 hours, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm, plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities, which can increase earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum after training.
All PPE, tools, and a van will be provided.
What you should bring to the role
* Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical systems, NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical engineering, and upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ2/3.
* Experience working on large industrial plant equipment, including pumps in the utilities industry, is beneficial.
* Knowledge of health and safety issues is essential.
* Participation in a 24/7 standby rota will be required after training.
* A full UK driving licence is essential; all necessary equipment will be provided.
