Job title: Community Engagement and Activities Coordinator

Location: Lanarkshire

Hours: 37

Contract: Permanent

Make a difference. Shape communities. Change lives.

About the role

Lanarkshire Self Directed Support Services provides high‑quality, person‑centred support to adults aged 16 and over, helping people to live well and independently in their own homes across Lanarkshire. We support individuals with a wide range of needs, including mental health challenges, learning disabilities, autism and neurodivergence, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, substance use issues, and age‑related frailty or memory difficulties.

Our staff teams are based in Blantyre, Lanark and Wishaw, allowing us to respond quickly, understand local needs, and build strong, trusted relationships within our communities.

We are now looking for a Community Engagement and Activities Coordinator (CEAC) to join our award‑winning service, recognised for excellence in engagement and innovative practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated individual who wants to make a real difference.

In this role, you will support people across North and South Lanarkshire, working with individuals who have mental health conditions, disabilities and complex health needs. Through community‑based activity, engagement and relationship‑building, you will help people build confidence, reduce social isolation, achieve positive outcomes, and become more connected to their local communities.

In this dynamic role, you will:

1. Support individuals to connect with their local communities
2. Co-produce meaningful activities and opportunities that enhance wellbeing and independence
3. Build strong partnerships across communities to widen opportunities
4. Ensure the service is shaped by the voices, ideas, and feedback of the people we support

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar support environment and a sound understanding of the Health and Social Care Standards. You will work in a trauma‑informed, objective and non‑discriminatory way, recognising the impact of trauma and supporting individuals with empathy, dignity and respect.

You will be committed to working positively with a diverse range of people, supporting individuals to live safe, fulfilling and independent lives. This role requires someone who is passionate about empowering people and improving lives, with a genuine drive to help individuals become active and valued members of their communities.

You will be skilled in building meaningful relationships and engaging with diverse groups, bringing a creative, adaptable and solutions‑focused approach to your work. You will also demonstrate a strong commitment to participation, co‑production and inclusion, ensuring people are actively involved in decisions that affect their lives.

While experience in community engagement or social care is desirable, your enthusiasm, compassion, and genuine belief in people’s potential are what truly matter most as full support and training will be provided.

The benefits we offer:

As part of Wheatley Care, we offer a sector-leading benefits package.

The successful candidate will receive:

· a rewarding career with a competitive salary.

· access to a contributory pension scheme.

· excellent leave entitlements.

· enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave.

· contributions towards dental, optical, driving lessons and more.

· access to staff inclusion networks promoting an inclusive workplace; and

· 24/7 access to our employee assistance programme.

Committed to inclusion:

Wheatley Care is always looking to improve diversity within our teams. We want to create an inclusive environment where everyone can contribute their best work and achieve their full potential.

We actively celebrate our individual differences and recognise the collective strength this brings the organisation. It’s important our teams represent the communities we serve, and we welcome applications from any under-represented groups.

Closing date: 15 June at 5pm
