This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing third generation family business to manage the complete Health & Safety function, reporting into the Operations Director.
We are looking for a reliable Health & Safety Officer to ensure everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws. You will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace.
As a Health & Safety Officer you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. You will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.
Stand-alone delivery of a pro-active and professional H&S Service to the business through effective implementation of policies and procedures. To provide business aligned H&S Objectives that support the achievement of the company objectives and drive a safe working culture.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with Senior team and Line Managers, providing them with expert advice and guidance, coaching and developing their knowledge on H&S Policies, Safe Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments.
* Work with the HR and Technical management teams to provide safety support in the various audits to which the company is exposed.
* Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
* Prepare and enforce policies and procedure to establish a culture of health and safety.
* Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to company and legal requirements.
* Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations.
* Inspect equipment and machinery to ensure legal compliance and identify possible unsafe conditions for repair/improvement.
* Manage the site statutory safety inspections for:
Lifting equipment;
Fork lift trucks;
Fire extinguishers;
Ladders and Racking.
* Carry out regular workplace inspections and generate action plans to encourage improvement of practices and housekeeping with the workforce.
* Investigate accidents and incidents to discover root causes and assist in the prevention of further incidents.
* Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
Drive hazard and near miss reporting to encourage the workforce to maintain their safety and that of others
Qualifications/Experience
· NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health.
· Membership of IOSH.
· Extensive and up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
· Experience of Health and Safety management.

Pay: £17.00 per hour
