Overview

Ingfield Manor School is a non-maintained special school and part of Salutem Care and Education who have services across England and Wales supporting adults and children in residential and educational environments. Based in its own grounds, Ingfield Manor School offers specialist facilities with the aim to provide an exceptional learning environment, helping children and young people fulfil their potential. Facilities include woodland and outdoor classroom space, a high specification sensory room and swimming pool. The aim of our services is to provide a safe and stimulating environment that enables children and young people to flourish and grow. Our IMS provision caters for students aged 3–19 years with neurological motor impairment such as Cerebral Palsy and associated medical and sensory needs, following the Conductive Education approach to holistic development.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team on a maternity cover basis. You will play a key role in supporting high-quality education for our students, working closely with teachers and other professionals to promote inclusive learning and development.

Location: Woodview at Ingfield Manor School
Reporting to: Lead Teacher
Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time Only (39 weeks)
Salary: £23,175 - £25,136 per annum (£12.99 - £14.09 per hour) (Equivalent FT salary: £27,020 - £29,307, dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities


Teaching & Learning

* Lead small group teaching sessions under teacher guidance.
* Organise and support off-site learning activities (e.g., school trips).
* Use ICT to enhance student learning.
* Cover and lead class teaching (under supervision) when required.
* Promote inclusive participation in learning and extracurricular activities.
* Maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment.
* Observe and report student performance to the class teacher.


Planning & Preparation

* Support assessment, planning, and progress monitoring.
* Prepare classrooms and resources for lessons.
* Contribute to lesson planning and structured learning activities.
* Plan for inclusive learning support.


Transition Support

* Assist with transition programmes for incoming Year 7 students.
* Support summer transition events and orientation sessions.
* Engage with students and families during the Autumn term to ease transitions.


Collaboration & Professional Development

* Communicate effectively with staff, students, and families.
* Share student insights with education, health, and social care professionals.
* Provide behaviour support and advice in collaboration with services.
* Participate in staff training and contribute to programme development.


Whole-School Contribution

* Support the implementation of school policies and values.
* Contribute positively to the school’s ethos and wider life.
