JOB DESCRIPTION
:
The successful applicant shall be required to carry out the duties of a teacher.
The following responsibilities and duties are identified but are subject to change, as and when appropriate and in accordance with the future needs of the school.
1.The education and welfare of pupils in accordance with the requirements of the Teachers’ (Terms and Conditions of Employment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987, having due regard to the requirements of the Northern Ireland Curriculum, the school’s ethos, aims, objectives and values and any policies of the Board of Governors.
2.Promote good relationships and effective communication between all staff and with parents, governors and the wider community.
3.Additional duties included in Schedule 2 of the Teachers (Terms and Conditions of Employment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987.The following duties are identified but are subject to change as above, in accordance with future needs of the school.
a.As a member of the Leadership Team to assist the Vice-Principal and Senior Leadership Team with the development, implementation and monitoring of the School Development Plan, self-evaluation and all aspects of School Policy.
b.Participate fully in the meetings of the School Leadership Team and to assist thePrincipal and Vice-Principal in chairing, co-chairing and attending meetings with curriculum focus teams as necessary.
c.Deputise for the Principal and Vice Principal as necessary.
d.Assist at school functions and Parents’ Meetings.
e.Provide key leadership in matters relating to curriculum development.
f.Prepare and support newly qualified teachers through the Beginning Teacher Programme and the Early Professional Development Programme.
g.Make a major contribution to the management of pupils, staff and resources.Lead, where applicable, the teacher professional learning of staff in curriculum development and review.
h.Assist with the implementation of the PRSD Scheme in school.
i.Take a lead role in transitions for pupils preparing to leave school
Specific administration; leadership & management roles and responsibilities
1.Be a member of the Safeguarding Team and Deputy Designated Teacher for Child Protection.
2.Lead whole school or departmental curriculum development and act as a line manager to Heads of Primary and Post Primary Departments.
3.Promote and develop key components / areas of the curriculum identified as priorities in the school development plan.
4.Be responsible for learning and teaching and ensure the needs of all pupils are met through the provision of high quality teaching throughout school.
5.Assist the Principal/Vice-Principal to ensure progression across the whole school curriculum: provide key leadership and counsel on curriculum matters to all teachers and staff.
6.Assist to develop and implement curriculum policies and procedures that promote high standards of teaching and learning
7.Ensure the curriculum is inclusive, engaging and accessible to all pupils, providing opportunities for academic, social and emotional development.
8.Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of the curriculum using data and feedback to inform continuous improvement.
9.Link with parents, as applicable, to promote key priorities identified by school
10.Monitor and liaise with relevant staff to ensure curriculum provision is meeting the needs of the pupils. This can include monitoring and evaluating planners where necessary.
11.Assist the Vice-Principalin reporting to the Board of Governors on matters pertaining to Curriculum Development
12.Assist SLT and Vice-Principal in the formulation of Curriculum Policies.
13.Attend SLT meetings and Departmental Curriculum Meetings as required.
14.Assist in the monitoring, evaluation and review of the Curriculum Action Plans
15.Lead the school transition team
16.Assist Pastoral Lead with training and support to ensure the Positive Behaviour Policy is embedded and consistent across the school.
17.Ensure progression of pupils is appropriately recorded.
18.Responsible for recording and reporting of end of Key Stage data to CCEA
