This Occupational Therapy vacancy is within the state-of-the-art new Willow Therapy Unit at Norwich Community Hospital. The facility provides a supportive environment for 48 patients and supports step-by-step improvements to help patients regain independence as they prepare to return to the community.

To contribute to high standards of health care during patients’ inpatient stay in the Willow Unit and to deliver care in a reablement setting, which may include visiting patients in their own homes.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the delivery of care and reablement 7 days a week, working 11.5 hours per week long day shift pattern.
* Support an environment where all team members are responsible for a reablement ethos using a positive risk-taking approach for patients, carers and families.
* Support patients to be as independent as possible within their functional limits.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team within a quality framework to meet high standards of care, support discharge practice, and develop pathways.
* Collaborate with system partners including the voluntary sector to ensure seamless transfer of care into and onward from the unit.
* Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care to a named group of patients, and promote policies, protocols and guidelines.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential and understanding of conditions.
* Assess capacity, gain valid informed consent where applicable, and work within legal frameworks for patients lacking capacity.
* Delegate to and supervise therapy assistant practitioners as required.
* Assist senior staff with advice, teaching, and information for relatives, carers, and other professionals to promote understanding of occupational therapy aims.
* Ensure equipment use complies with policies and maintain competence with equipment.
* Engage with evidence-based practice and participate in audits as required.
Professional & Compliance
* Comply with the College of Occupational Therapists’ Code of Ethics and Trust Standards.
* Maintain registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Maintain ongoing CPD and participate in in-service training, meetings, and reflective practice.
* Set personal development objectives with the senior staff, and maintain comprehensive assessment and treatment records in line with legal and departmental requirements.
* Participate in rotational appraisal and Trust Individual Development Reviews.
* Respect diversity and ensure services are inclusive and free from discrimination; comply with equal opportunities and anti-discrimination legislation.
* Negotiate your supervision contract for each area of work.
Organisational
* Collect data and statistics as directed by the lead Occupational Therapist.
* Maintain awareness of Health and Safety requirements and implement policies to improve safety, including prompt reporting of accidents and ensuring equipment safety.
* Comply with organisational and departmental policies and procedures across employing and secondment organisations.
* Perform any other duties as deemed appropriate by Senior Occupational Therapists or the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist.
