As a Prostate Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert care and nursing advice, support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients and relatives/carers, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, in line with local and national targets.
The post will involve offering specialist nursing input to patients with Prostate Cancer, together with the established Uro-Oncology and multi-disciplinary team, aiming to deliver a world class patient experience.
Key responsibilities:
* Manage your own caseload of patients, working as a part of the multi-disciplinary team.
* Maintain effective communication with patients, families/carers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure seamless service delivery.
* Implement specialist holistic assessment and treatment using a personalised approach, based on detailed knowledge and understanding of the area of practice.
* Act as a skilled advisor for patients, and a resource for others, exercising autonomy and accountability for your actions.
* Work in or across many settings, depending on your area of expertise and scope of practice.
Qualifications & skills
* Relevant and substantial post registration experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
* Experience in teaching and assessing others.
* Experience in audit and service development.
* Experience in leading and managing.
* Research experience.
* In depth knowledge of prostate cancer and evidence-based practice.
* Advanced communication skills and ability to manage complex situations.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* Excellent organisational and advanced ICT skills.
* Leadership and influence in change.
* Design and deliver education programmes.
* NMC registration and a degree in a related subject.
* Post registration qualifications in speciality or relevant subject (Cancer).
* Advanced communication course and Level 2 psychological skills training.
* Recognised teaching qualification or demonstrable teaching experience.
* MSc or MA in a related speciality.
* Recognised physical assessment module at level 7.
* Quality improvement training.
