We are seeking a committed and experienced Social Worker to join the Child Protection/ Safeguarding Team on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
The Team comprises seven qualified Social Workers, supported by a Deputy and Team Manager, Social Work Assistants, support staff, and students.
The salary for this post ranges from £53,271 to £66,950.
You will assist in providing and developing an effective service for children and families across the island by working closely with other agencies, professionals, and the public. Responsibilities include undertaking child protection investigations, early help assessments, and working with children in need, children in need of protection, and children subject to Care Requirements according to the Children (Guernsey and Alderney) Law 2008. This law introduces significant changes to how concerns regarding children and young people are addressed, based broadly on the Children’s Hearing System in Scotland.
The island of Guernsey has a population of 65,000 and features some of Britain’s finest beaches, a mild and sunny climate, and a historic harbour town in St. Peter’s Port, the island's capital.
The States of Guernsey offers diverse healthcare services, with an excellent Child Protection and Child in Need service supported by highly qualified Social Workers.
Person requirements:
* Qualified Social Worker with current UK registration
* Minimum of two years post-registration UK experience, including safeguarding and managing own Child Protection and Child in Need caseloads
* Experience in court proceedings, including giving evidence
* Ability to make judgments and decisions confidently
* Possession of a current, clean driving license; own vehicle required (mileage reimbursed at full rate)
