A civil engineering utilities contractor is seeking an assistant/quantity surveyor to work on a multi-discipline project in East London.
The QS will assist the Commercial Manager with the commercial and contract management of various designated packages. You will join a hardworking, ambitious team and benefit from a supportive culture where your ideas and contributions are recognized.
The successful candidate will build strong relationships with both the commercial and operations teams through regular communication and a proactive, collaborative working style. The role will be primarily office-based with regular visits to project sites. Under close guidance of the Commercial Manager, we expect the QS to learn quickly and develop into a role with independent commercial responsibility.
This role is ideally suited to candidates with an eye for detail, strong financial/numerical skills, hardworking nature, and a willingness to learn and develop.
Responsibilities Include:
* Assisting the commercial team with management and contract administration of allocated projects;
* Providing regular updates to project teams;
* Assisting with the preparation of payment applications and internal cash flow reports;
* Supporting the preparation and management of sub-contracts and supplier agreements;
* Contributing to cost reporting for projects;
* Conducting site visits, assessments, and future work projections;
* Assisting with notification and variation (compensation event) submissions.
Additional Tasks:
* Collaborating with the commercial team to gather data;
* Analyzing data;
* Preparing payment applications and forecasts;
* Preparing weekly cash flow reports;
* Cost control activities;
* Maintaining contract records and correspondence;
* Assessing and preparing variations (compensation events);
* Administering subcontract and supplier accounts;
* Adhering to and promoting the “BAUER Values”.
Minimum Requirements:
* Higher education qualification preferred but not essential;
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
* Proficiency in IT (Microsoft Excel & Word);
* Full driving license.
